“If you know, you know.” — Cliff McEvoy, Kids Can Community Center

Year 3, here we go! We are back and ready to support and raise funds for another amazing nonprofit in the Omaha area!!

Kids Can Community Center is excited to be the 2022 charity for Omaha Mom Prom. As they just celebrated their 114th anniversary in March 2021, we are ready to dance the night away and celebrate this staple that has grown in the Omaha area!

Kids Can Community Center’s mission is to educate, engage, and inspire children through early childhood care and out-of-school experiences.

When picking the best charity for 2022, it was an easy decision knowing the hard work, dedication, and commitment Kids Can has to enhance education, development, and provide a safe place for children and families from the early morning hours until parents are able to get off work. This place is home to so many students. Students can attend Kids Can from 18 months to 13 years of age. Children need healthy adults that pour into them every day. When speaking with Cliff McEvoy, he noted that “Kids Can serves as a safe haven for children to come to every morning and build healthy relationships and skills to allow them to grow and develop in life.”

Kids Can hopes everyone becomes more aware of their mission and how they are lifting up the next generation. The more schools they are involved with, the more students they are able to serve. Kids Can has grown in the last ten years and recently thrived during the COVID-19 pandemic. The world was shutting down, but Kids Can Community Center saw the need to push forward in the safest way and provided a stable outlet for students, allowing them to excel with remote learning.

They are on-site at five schools: Gilder, Miller Park, Wakonda, Nelson Mandela, and Minne Lusa. Kids Can is currently serving 1,245 students, with the goal to serve 1,500 in this next year! They provide the best quality of education to the most vulnerable children in our community, and a solid foundation for children to be successful. Every dollar raised goes right back into a student’s education. They are currently in the process of building a brand new and BIGGER center to continue increasing their capacity educate, engage and inspire.

The new center will double the capacity of Kids Can’s current location.

Kids Can provides a safe place for children to land before school, after school and during the summer months with full programming. The goal is for every single student to improve their social skills, demonstrate curiosity and future focus, develop positive behaviors, and engage in STEMsmart Academy. At Kids Can, students feel safe, they thrive and overcome obstacles while being led by caring staff!

Kids Can Community Center supports families, and wants them to be successful and able to have the financial support they need to raise their children. Most families work long hours and are grateful for the support provided by Kids Can, knowing their children are safe and getting their needs met. There is never a worry that their children are not being poured into and they know their child feels a sense of security.

Omaha Mom Prom is ready to support and work alongside Kids Can Community Center to raise the funds to further educate children and build up future generations.

Kids Can serves nearly 1,300 lower-income Omaha children year-round with both in-school and out-of-school programs.

Event Details

Mom Prom is a catchy name but it is for women 21 and older! You don’t have to be a mom, but you do need to be old enough to have a drink. It is an event that shows the wonderful things women can do when working together dancing, having fun and raising money for a great cause! All proceeds go directly to Kids Can, a nonprofit community center serving 1,300 children from lower-income homes.

It is a Prom so have fun with a girl’s night out! Dress up, dress 80’s, dress wedding, or rock that bridesmaid dress you paid $200 for that’s just sitting in your closet. Be ready to move and groove as the night goes on!
